I have lived in the local area all my life and been known in Watton and the surrounding villages for over 21 years in my role as a local Funeral Director. I am now very proud to continue in this role in my own name as an independent family owned business.
I was born in Saham Toney where I lived until I married my husband Nick in 1988 and we moved to Holme Hale. I have always worked locally and in my earlier working years, spent some of that time in the family heavy plant hire business.
In 1992, I took up a position in Watton as an office administrator with, what was then, a family owned group of funeral directors. Here I trained and qualified as a Funeral Director, becoming one of very few female funeral directors in Norfolk. I then later gained the Higher Diploma in Funeral Service Management. After working through changes of ownership in the business, and changes within the working environment, my role was taking me more and more away from the part of the job that gave me the most satisfaction and pride. In August 2013, I decided that being part of a large corporate business was not right for me and I made the decision to leave. This wasn't an easy choice, but I felt if I was going to continue in the work I loved, the only way for me would be to open my own business.
I have always enjoyed being involved with the local community and fund-raising. As a teenager I helped start a local youth club in the village, and for many years I have been involved with our local school's Friends of the School Association. I was also a founder director of Project Rainbow, and enjoy my role as Main Ring Secretary for Wayland Agricultural Society.
Being a family owned Independent Funeral Director means so much and I am very proud to provide a personal, caring and professional service.
